Types of Off-Site Services


Harmony Health Medical Centre is primarily a clinic-based practice. Home visits are not routinely available and will only be considered in exceptional circumstances for established patients of the practice.


Any request for a home visit will be assessed by the patient’s usual GP. Approval is at the doctor’s discretion and will depend on factors including:


  • The severity and urgency of the patient’s condition
  • Whether the patient is medically unable to attend the practice
  • The patient’s location
  • The doctor’s availability and capacity to safely provide the visit


Home visits are intended for occasional or urgent circumstances only. Patients who require ongoing or regular home-based medical care will need to make alternative arrangements, such as through My Aged Care, community nursing services or another appropriate home-visiting healthcare provider.


All home visits are privately billed. A doctor may choose to bulk bill a home visit where the patient:

  • Holds a current Health Care Card
  • Is housebound
  • Requires a home visit that the doctor considers medically necessary

Meeting these criteria does not guarantee that a home visit will be available.


Established patients who believe they require a home visit should contact our reception team. Reception will collect the relevant information and discuss the request with the patient’s treating doctor.


After-Hours Home Visits


After-hours home visits may be available through Hello Home Doctor Service, which provides in-home GP consultations outside the practice’s usual opening hours.


Please advise the visiting doctor that Harmony Health Medical Centre is your regular practice and provide the name of your usual GP so that a consultation report can be forwarded to us.

Emergencies

While you are encouraged to build a relationship with your doctor, we also recognise emergency care needs.


Please let the receptionist know if you believe your symptoms require urgent assessment, and you will be seen at the earliest opportunity. Our staff are trained in triage to notify the doctor immediately.
